Dr. William Nelles holds the rank of Professor Emeritus at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, where he has taught in the English Department since 1995. He has also served UMD as Director of the Spotlight Program for high school students, of the MAT Graduate Program in English, of the University Honors Programs, and as Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Professor Nelles has more than a hundred scholarly publications, including his book Frameworks: Narrative Levels and Embedded Narrative (rpt. 2020), and has been awarded grants for research at such institutions as Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Dartmouth, Brown, Northwestern, the University of California at Berkeley, Oxford University, the Bodleian Library, and the Bibliothèque Nationale de France.
