Shaun Spencer is Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Director of Legal Skills, and a Professor of Law at the University of Massachusetts School of Law. Prior to joining the University of Massachusetts, he taught at Harvard Law School and Boston College Law School, where he earned his LL.M and J.D., respectively. Dean Spencer teaches and publishes on information privacy law and policy and has taught courses on legal research and writing and appellate advocacy. He continues to represent select clients in the courts of appeals. In one such case, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court adopted his client’s argument on how to interpret the state’s alimony law, which led Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly to name Dean Spencer a 2024 Lawyer of the Year.
