About

Sarah Cosgrove is the Associate Provost for Student Success. She started at UMass Dartmouth in 2004 and is a Professor of Economics. She served as chair of the Economics Department from 2017-2024. She was Editor of International Review of Economics Education from 2018 to 2023. Her primary research focuses on developing, implementing, and evaluating pedagogical methods to improve students’ learning gains, particularly in economics. She has published articles on the use of loss aversion as a student motivating technique, research-based instructional strategies, flipping the classroom and blended learning. Her earlier research related to transportation and regulated industries.
