About

Lance Fiondella joined the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth as an assistant professor in 2013. Since fall 2025, he is a professor and serves as the Founding Director of the UMass Dartmouth Cybersecurity Center, an NSA/DHS designated Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) in Cyber Research. He conducts research in the areas of software reliability and resilient systems engineering and has published over 200 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers on these topics.

His research has been funded by the Department of Homeland Security, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, U.S. Military Academy, Army Research Laboratory, Naval Air Systems Command, Naval Sea Systems Command, Department of the Air Force, and National Science Foundation, including a CAREER Award and CyberCorps Scholarship for Service (SFS).
