Dr. Ilknur Yesilcinar is an Associate Professor of Nursing in the Community Department at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She earned her BSN and MSN at Gulhane Military Medical Academy School of Nursing and a PhD in obstetrics and gynecology nursing at the University of Health Sciences Gulhane Health Sciences Institute, Ankara, Turkey. She was selected as a participant in the Human Genetics and Genomics training at the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) in 2019. She has seven years of clinical expertise caring for obstetrics and gynecology patients. She has over 40 publications in international and national journals. She is also an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International and the International Society of Nurses in Genetics (ISONG).
Dr. Yesilcinar’s research mission is to improve maternal health by understanding barriers and facilitators in the utilization of health services, developing new strategies to improve maternal and fetal well-being, and improving nurses’ genomic knowledge, skills, and competency in genomics and integrating genomics into practice.
