About

Erica Sylvia is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Legal Skills Program at UMass Law. Prior to joining this team, she taught various skills-based courses aimed at law student academic support and bar exam success. Professor Sylvia was voted one of the "Professors of the Year" by the UMass Law student body for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 academic years. Before joining the faculty at UMass Law, she was a full-time appellate prosecutor in Massachusetts, where she successfully argued many cases before the Supreme Judicial Court and Appeals Court. She continues to serve as a Special Assistant District Attorney for the Bristol District.
