About

Dr. Anguelov is Associate Professor in the department of Public Policy at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. He has a Ph.D. in Policy Studies, concentration Regional Economic Development, an MPA and a MS in Applied Economics and Statistics from Clemson University. Dr. Anguelov completed his undergraduate studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology where he earned a double B.S. in International Trade and Advertising Communications and Marketing.

As a political economist, he focuses on the intersection of economics and politics, both in the US and internationally. His research links economic development, globalization, sustainability, and public finance. He is the author of five academic books: The Sustainable Fashion Quest: Innovations in Business and Policy (2021, Routledge), From Criminalizing to Decriminalizing Marijuana: The Politics of Social Control (2018, Lexington Books), The Dirty Side of the Garment Industry: Fast Fashion and Its Negative Impact on Environment and Society (2015, CRC Press), Economic Sanctions Vs. Soft Power: Lessons from North Korea, Myanmar and the Middle East (2015, Palgrave Macmillan) and Policy and Political Theory in Trade Practice: Multinational Corporations and Global Governments (2014, Palgrave Macmillan). He’s also contributing author and co-editor of Stoneover: The Observed Lessons and Unanswered Questions of Cannabis Legalization (2022, Lexington Books).

Dr. Anguelov’s peer-reviewed works are published in Journal of Environmental Planning and Management, Materials Research Express, World Development Sustainability, Journal of Public Affairs Education, Review of Policy Research, Journal of Social Service Research, Economic Affairs, Criminal Justice Policy Review, Palgrave Communications, Journal of Strategic Innovation and Sustainability, and Global Economy Journal. His trade publications appear in Foreign Affairs, Nature Energy, Juriste International, and Naked Capitalism.
