Marilyn Naeem

Dr. Marilyn Naeem is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, where she earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry. Her research spans organic, inorganic, and medicinal chemistry, with a focus on the synthesis and structural characterization of biologically active molecules, including substituted tryptamines, as well as coordination chemistry and small-molecule crystallography. Her work has contributed to publications in medicinal chemistry, materials chemistry, analytical toxicology, and crystallography.

As a first-generation college graduate, Dr. Naeem is passionate about chemistry education, student mentorship, and making science accessible to students from diverse academic backgrounds. She is actively involved in the American Chemical Society through scientific outreach, professional service, and initiatives supporting women and early-career chemists.
