Kathleen M. Elliott, DNP, ANP, BC, has served as faculty for the past 27 years. Additionally, she has practiced as an Adult Nurse Practitioner for 22 years in primary care, ED and urgent care and she has been an Adult Nurse Practitioner Clinical Coordinator for the past 16 years. Dr. Kathleen Elliott holds a BSN from Saint Joseph’s College, an MSN from the University of Massachusetts Boston, Post-Masters Adult NP from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She is a Service-Learning Fellow in 2016, which provided resources to implement a designated service-learning course that is currently a required clinical course for all nurse practitioners. This course is a doctoral clinical course for future practicing DNP students; the students in this course are required to provide community service to those suffering from opioid use disorder by providing routine physical exams. Dr. Elliott has piloted a SAMSA Grant that entitled Practitioner Education. This grant was developed by Yale and is an on-line course provided to UMassD College of Nursing and was an initiative in making education and training in substance use disorders a part of healthcare in all specialties. This grant allowed us full access to the course and certification. Dr Elliott has presented locally and nationally on Opioid Use Disorder. Her community involvement includes the Gifford Wellness Center in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Dr. Elliott has completed over 10 medical mission trips to Port-au-Prince, Haiti with Partners in Development.
