Abstract
Zooplankton fecal pellets appear to be important agents for transporting and recycling materials in marine and freshwater systems. They are involved in both the deposition at depth and recycling in the water column of inorganic sediment components and detrital organic matter. They are also potentially important in the transport of pollutants.
