•Intrapersonal, interpersonal, and organizational factors were positively interrelated.•Multilevel influences were negatively associated with burnout/turnover intent.•Multilevel influences collectively predict new graduate transitional outcomes.•New nurses' with higher psychological capital have lower burnout/turnover intent.
