Abstract
Clinical adjunct faculty (CAF) play a central role in prelicensure nursing education but often receive limited preparation for teaching. This gap is increasingly significant with the implementation of the Essentials (2026), which emphasize competency-based education and the integration of knowledge, skills, and attitudes in clinical practice. Despite widespread curricular adoption, fewer resources exist to support the translation of these competencies into clinical teaching.
A multi-phase design was used to develop and establish content validity of the Facilitating Reflection and Advancing Meaningful Education (FRAME) Guide. Guide development was informed by the Essentials (2021), relevant literature, and faculty expertise. Content validation was conducted using a Delphi methodology with expert nurse educators. Content validity indices improved across three rounds, with all items meeting the predefined threshold.
The FRAME Guide provides structured clinical teaching strategies, including discussion prompts, clinical activities, artificial intelligence prompts, and reflection questions, designed to support competency-based teaching across the clinical day.
The FRAME Guide offers a practical resource to support CAF in facilitating clinical reasoning, reflection, and competency development, with potential to reduce variability in clinical teaching and strengthen alignment between classroom learning and clinical practice.
