Abstract
•We traditionally utilize active learning strategies to cultivate therapeutic communication skills. Students struggled to develop realistic conversations when asked to create and role-play patient-nurse dialogue.•This paper highlights an innovative approach: integrating AI into assignments. Students used AI to generate conversation among patients, caregivers, and nurses.•Our AI-integrated strategy allowed novice students to focus on enhancing essential therapeutic communication techniques rather than crafting scenarios. Concurrently, this approach fostered responsible AI use.
