Abstract
As our population ages the need for family caregivers will rise. Caregiver burden results from family members providing care in isolation, with few outside resources and limited interprofessional collaboration. The Partners in Family Caregiving framework was developed as a resource for nurses and other health care professionals. This framework identifies the family caregiver-care recipient dyad as the center of the family caregiving system. Concentric circles with bidirectional arrows represent the interconnected flow between the nurse, healthcare providers and community resources. Discussion highlights using the conceptual framework as one approach to foster interprofessional relationships to ultimately strengthen the family caregiving system.
