Abstract

Installations (Art) Paper sculpture Sculpture.
My work derives from the application of predetermined systems onto material. Drawing inspiration from the scientific method, the circular nature of my studio practice allows me to deeply investigate an idea, process, or material. The discovery of marks on the working surfaces of table tops or floor boards, inspires an intimate investigation of my working environment. Through mold making, casting, and the intaglio print process, I reify the repeated marks made by many overtime, which previously were only perceptible through touch. I gravitate to the logic and control realized in numerical patterns. Guided by a space or object, I observe patterns or proportions which determine forms in space. Predictable and consistent, the application of these proportions to materials of organic origins, initiates an unpredictable relationship, between order and chaos, geometric and organic.
