Abstract

Mass media and art. Art and popular culture. Prints -- Technique.
My work is about mass media and popular culture. Media is represented through appropriated imagery, print, and collage of printed material. The central figures are characters from popular culture or social media. My main fields of study are printmaking and design, and both are central to my work. Traditional printmaking methods are used to create imagery that is then reproduced by more modern means on plastic materials. Mechanical means of reproduction are used to create unique precious objects. Dualism is a motif and is illustrated through juxtapositions of conceptual and/or compositional dichotomies. Gothic architectural elements frame popular culture icons as Mary. Order abuts chaos, new old, sacred profane, and sincerity parody.
