Abstract

Robots in art. Science fiction in art. Computer art. Computer animation. Three-dimensional display systems.
My digital work explores the technological singularity, an era in the future that our intelligence will become increasingly non-biological and trillions of times more powerful. The dawn of this new civilization, that will enable us to transcend our bio-logical limitations and amplify our creativity synchronizing the path of machine and human into one (Kurzweil 2005, p. 20-21).Fueled by this idea, my personal science fiction art was born-a robotic creature built by the US army to rule the world. The creation of Ejex is the illusion of an authentic being in a post-apocalyptic environment, shaped by a 3D digital software. The scene takes place in the year 2116, in a cold dark world. There are no children playing in the neighborhood, no shopping malls, and no green parks to walk a dog. It is a world filled with fear and doubt; disease and looting are spread all over the planet. The crumbled piles of building debris are the closest reminder of our past "civilized" society-what and who we used to be.The participant looking through Ejex's eyes will have complete control of its movement; exploring not only the surroundings but also the existence and purpose of this artificial intelligence (AI). With the creation of this virtual game, I am hoping to create an immersive experience, triggering an epiphany for the player, ensuring compassion in dealing with the Singularity and its inevitable conquest..
