Abstract
Optical communication system design is a challenging task because there is no general analytical solution for the nonlinear and dispersive fiber channel. Although there has been progress in analytical channel models such as Volterra series model and other variants of the perturbation model, numerical simulations are still extensively used in channel characterization, equalization and system design. In this paper, the authors are interested in finding ways to control local and global errors when the same simulation is repeated for a range of different system parameter values.
