Abstract
Health literacy is not routinely evaluated in adults hospitalized with heart failure (HF). Recent healthcare reform links low health literacy to HF readmissions and poor outcomes. Finding instruments to measure health literacy in the acute setting requires further investigation. Purpose:Test the feasibility, acceptability and validity of the Short-form, Test of Functional Health Literacy (S-Tofhla) and the Newest Vital Sign (NVS) in measuring health literacy in hospitalized adults with HF.
